Don’t Fall for Pests
What do you think of when it comes to fall? Falling leaves, football season, pumpkins, hayrides, crisp evenings? Do you ever think of rodents and pests? Hopefully, not!
The unfortunate fact is, though, that rodents and other pests like to make their appearance in your home this time of year. With the weather getting colder, just like us humans, they seek warmth. Your cozy home is the perfect solution to their frigid predicament.
As you spend your weekends raking your yard and finishing those outdoor projects from summer, the piles of leaves and debris you build are perfect for luring rodents and pests close to your home. They create a temporary habitat until the vermin have an opportunity to sneak into your home where they can set up a more permanent camp. Be sure to clear out any such attractions near your home so these uninvited guests don’t get any ideas!
Now is also a good time to check to make sure any cracks or holes in your walls, doors, and windows are all sealed tightly. Not only will it help keep pests out, but it will help with your heating costs throughout the upcoming winter. As a general rule, as well, it is important to keep a clean and tidy home to limit the places for hiding. Obviously, if you can see them, you can much more easily kill or trap them.
As we all know when it comes to certain visitors, no matter how much we try to keep them out, sometimes our unwanted guests show up anyway. Rodents and larger pests can be particularly difficult to get rid of (but not quite as hard as that show-off neighbor next door), so it may be best to call a professional if you begin seeing signs of a problem.
If fall is your favorite time of year, don’t let it be ruined by these intruders. Take simple precautions to prevent them from showing up; but if they do, don’t hesitate to give us a call to send them scampering on their way. (We’ll even send them in the direction of that neighbor, if you want!) Don’t fall for pests –Call Green Pest NC
